Run If You See Petrolatum In Your Anti Wrinkle Cream

I’m sure you know that there are hundreds or thousands of anti aging products such as anti aging creams and anti aging moisturizers on the market. Most don’t work very well however there is a more serious worry about many anti aging creams. Lots of them contain chemical ingredients and these can be damaging to your health. A fine example is one petrochemical ingredient called petrolatum.

Vaseline is pure petrolatum. It can also go by the name of petroleum jelly, petroleum wax, white petroleum or white petrolatum or other names. It is a petrochemical product which means that it is a byproduct of the distillation of crude oil.

The Cosmetic Safety Database is an organisation tasked with examining many of the ingredients found in our cosmetics, skin care and anti aging products and it describes petrolatum has being linked to cancer as well as being linked to non reproductive toxicity and product contamination. It is the product contamination that is extremely worrying. In various manufacturing processes petrolatum can be contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, or PAHs. These are seriously worrying, highly toxic and linked to cancer.

The companies that make anti wrinkle creams and anti aging moisturizers don’t test for the presence of PAHs in their products and so it is quite possible that they are in there without you knowing. They will not be listed on the label.

If petrolatum and PAHs pose a risk to your health why are they used in products such as skin care products, anti aging moisturizers and anti wrinkle creams? There is one simple answer. Petrolatum is incredibly cheap. The cheaper the ingredients the more profit they make on the products. The FDA isn’t required to find out whether any of these ingredients are in the products and they don’t. The anti aging companies are able to get away with it so they do.

There are excellent alternatives available. Natural ingredients that are known to be effective at improving skin health and which are also very safe but they are much more expensive and so are rarely used. Chemical ingredients are usually much cheaper.

But there are excellent natural skin care products such as anti wrinkle creams and anti aging moisturizers that do use these ingredients. These products are highly effective however are much more expensive to manufacture and therefore, if the companies that make them work to advertise them, they would be far too expensive and uncompetitive for you to buy.

For this reason these companies do not advertise their products and rely on word of mouth and a slow organic growth of a solid loyal customer base over time. And also for this reason chances are high that you’ve never heard of the companies, one in particular, that makes these excellent anti aging products.

So the good news is that there are excellent anti aging products such as anti wrinkle creams and if you look on the label you won’t see petrolatum or any other chemical or petrochemical ingredients listed there. They are high quality products with much more expensive high quality ingredients and they work well.

Why Men Experience Hair Loss

Hair loss in men is a common condition. It is estimated that over 65% of men will have thinning hair or some form of hair loss in their lifetimes. The main cause of hair loss in men is a hormone called Dht. Dht is produced by testosterone and is known to attack the hair follicle and gradually make it thinner and weaker.

Male Pattern Baldess is the name given to the most common type of hair loss that starts and the crown and temples and results in a receding hair line and gradually thinning hair. In cases of Male Pattern Baldness hair at the sides and back of the head does not usually thin and fall out. This is because this hair is resistant to Dht and its effects on hair.

Men can start experiencing hair loss from any age but it usually starts from the mid 20′s onwards. Usually Male Pattern Hair Loss is a hereditary condition. But it does not always follow down a family line and can miss out family members.

Hair loss in men is a huge business and it is estimated to be a business worth hundreds of million of dollars every single year. There are literally millions of men with hair loss or thinning hair and for many of these it can lead to a reduction in levels of self esteem and confidence.

There are two FDA approved medicines that can treat and help hair loss in men. These are Finasteride and Minoxidil. Minoxidil can be used up to a strength of 5 % for men and has to be applied twice per day. It works by increasing blood flow to the scalp. Finasteride inhibits the products of Dht and thus reduces its damaging effects on hair.

Both Minoxidil and Finasteride are most effective at slowing down further hair loss in men and hair thinning although they can regrow and thicken hair in some cases. How effective they will be cannot be predicted and depends on the individual in question. Benefits are lost when the treatments are stopped so their use is ongoing.

Not surprisingly there are hundreds if not thousands of products and treatments that claim to thicken hair, stop hair loss and regrow new hair. This is not surprising given the large demand for such products amongst the millions of men that have thinning hair and hair loss. Upon starting any new treatment one should be fully aware of any ingredients contained in them and any potential side effects for health and safety reasons.

Besides medical treatments and herbal ones some people might benefit from cosmetic hair thickening products and wigs. Hair thickening products come in a variety of forms such as powder and sprays. Wigs or hairpieces can be very effective and convincing as well. As always the users should be fully knowledgeable of any chemicals and ingredients in these products and check with their physician regarding the safety of their usage.

Here’s 7 Dry Skin Causes (And Treatments).

If you’ve got dry skin it’s annoying isn’t it? What causes dry skin? What can you do about it? Here’s 8 dry skin causes and their solutions.

There are a wide range of factors that can produce dry skin. Some are more rare than others.

And you’d be very surprised at how common dry skin is, especially as we grow older, and so there are so many people searching for dry skin treatments. Some dry skin conditions are easy to treat, some not so easy.

And if you have dry skin were sure you know just how irritating it can be. Maybe your skin is all dull and flaky, red or even painful. And that itching.

Normally our skin has it’s own protective layer of natural oils that the skin produces itself. But various causes can result in our skin losing it’s natural oily protection and result in the symptoms I’ve previously mentioned known as dry skin.

So lets look at some dry skin causes. Theres some that are easy to treat, and some not so easy.

1. Long hot baths. So you love a shower or bath that is scalding hot, and love to stay there forever? That can take away natural oils from your skin. A shower is better than a bath, but keep it a little less hot.

2. Skin care products and cosmetics. Is this a surprise to you? Is this the first time you’ve heard that many big brand name skin care products and cosmetics actually have ingredients in them that are dangerous to your skin?

There are many ingredients found in big name products that actually dry your skin. Mineral oil is an example. It is a petrochemical product used in skin care products because it is cheap and it actually dries and damages your skin.

Much better is to use high quality natural skin care products that won’t damage your skin and will help you overcome your dry skin problems very successfully.

3. Exposure to the sun. Don’t ever get sunburned if you can avoid it. Sunburn dries and damages the skin, and can lead to skin cancer.

4. Weather. This also can cause dry skin conditions by reducing humidity and dry your skin out. For example those living in cold dry winters may well find that they suffer from dry skin in winter, but if it is more humid in summer they don’t. This can usually be corrected with a high quality natural moisturizer, or even better, a complete natural skin care product.

5. Soaps and detergents. Modern soaps and detergents can also do this. And shampoos. Many of these contain harmful ingredients as well, and should be avoided. Deodorizing and anti bacterial soaps should be avoided, you don’t need them. Any soap that makes a huge lather and makes you feel squeaky clean isn’t good. Try changing your soap, choose a natural soap, deodorant free and fragrance free, and keep changing till you find one friendly to your skin.

6. Psoriasis, medical conditions, and drugs. Many medical conditions, like psoriasis and eczema, can cause dry skin, and some drugs can too. For specific medical conditions consult your doctor.

7. And you can also get skin dryness from itchy clothes, so don’t wear clothes that itch

.There’s 7 dry skin causes. But what dry skin treatments are there for this condition. As previously mentioned for medical conditions see a doctor or dermatologist. But in many cases you don’t need to.

So remember, use natural soaps and shampoos, and keep trying them until you find one that suits your skin. And remember that any time you’re buying something that goes on your skin look for a natural alternative with no nasty chemicals. Natural alternatives are often cheaper and safer. And keep showers shorter and cooler.

And lastly you really ought to use a high quality range of natural skin care products to combat dry skin. The highest quality natural skin care products contain natural moisturizers like Babassu oil, from the nut of the Babassu tree, and avocado oil. As well as moisturizing better they are also safer.

But surprisingly, although the ingredients in natural skin care products are more expensive than those in regular anti aging skin care products the products themselves are very cost competitive because the small niche skin care company that makes them doesn’t spend on TV advertising.

So there’s 7 dry skin causes, many of which you can treat with some of the dry skin treatments I’ve suggested here. Combine all the strategies I’ve suggested together with a regime of high quality natural skin care products and you’re well on your way to successfully combating that most annoying dry skin.
